Today it is a little chilly because of the strong wind but, so much better than yesterday's wind. My friend Lara went to the club down the street and met two employees of the Dolphin Research Center last night. They have given us free admission to the center today.
How can you not want to play with the dolphins, they are so cute? Unfortunately I was not willing to pony up the fee to be allowed to interact with them. So we are going to be viewing others do it today. The dolphins are busy entertaining us with their well learned tricks in exchange for some small fish. It is amazing how well they communicate with humans. These dolphins do have the choice and ability to leave but choose to stay at the research center.
Tonight my Husband and I are celebrating our 8th anniversary a day early, we wanted to do it in Keys while at Tranquility Bay Resort and we will be leaving for Fort Lauderdale tomorrow. We have chosen to have dinner at Lazy Days in Marathon as a suggestion of one of the employees of Tranquility Beach Bay Resort. The parking lot was full on a Monday night when we drove in so that is always a good sign. Out side there are string lights and tiki torches lighting up the exterior. There is outdoor and indoor seating to choose from with views of the harbor and beautiful boats.
When at Keywest I really wanted to try Conch Fritters, they were sold everywhere but the ingredients were not something I would normally eat. Conch is a small snail inside of the conch shell. I pictured them kinda of chewy and very spicy by reading about them in restaurants. I tried to buy just one or two in the street food cars but they would only sell by an order of ten. I saw them on the menu so I was able to get half an order. The fritters were what I expected but not as spicy but the conch was very chewy.
Our waiter was very attentive if you see something on the menu that you do not like they will adjust it to your taste. I really appreciated that, as you will see from my dish below I ordered the Alaskan entree that had lobster tail, shrimp, mussels, clams, and scallops in a creamy sherry sauce with tomatoes and asparagus. I had mine without the clams or mussels. The portions are humungous there was enough food on my plate for 5 people.
The happy couple as you will see I had a little to much sun and am very pink... O.k red.
The atmosphere was nice kind of rustic and casual we were a tad overdressed but that is ok. I think it would be great to go here at sunset to watch the sun set over the harbor. I give this restaurant 4 forks.
