Bertrand at Mister A's

Bertrand at Mister A's

Tonight I am being treated for a night out in the big city of San Diego with my friend Lara and Frank.  They are taking me to Mister A's a fine dining experience full of beautiful skyline views of down town San Diego. The city view is absolutely breathtaking. I was surprised as the commercial planes flew by between the tall buildings in the city to a nearby airport.  Outside seating is available on a wrap around deck, with comfortable seating and outdoor heating for the cool nights.
We were served by extremely attentive, friendly staff who gave a feeling of warmth and elegance about them. Dress is business casual/elegant, cuisine is upscale.
I really enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli and scallops with a sage and butter sauce.  The ravioli was filled with butternut squash with a mild sage sauce. The scallops couldn't have been cooked better perfectly seared on the outside still juicy on the inside.  Bravo!  I ordered the new york steak with grilled herbs and garlic.  The seasoning was full of fresh herb flavors followed by a perfectly balance garlic flavor the steak was a little over cooked but still very good. Now for dessert, Creme Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee, and Almond Cookie.  The sugar crust is probably the best I have ever had a sweet thick crust followed by a creamy vanilla custard and almond cookie.  Garnished with fresh fruit.

I give Mister A's 4 1/2 forks.
