Tour of Alcatraz

Today we went off the coast of San Francisco to Alcatraz Island. We took a 13 minute ferry ride over to the island. We learned what it felt like to be a prisoner there, after you arrive at the island you must walk up a three level hike usually done in handcuffs and shackles, leaving there former life behind them. You get a feeling of how scary it must have been w
alking to the unknown of prison life. Immediately they were stripped down and lead to the shower room. Then given a blanket, sheets and clothes. The cells are about 6x8 with a bed, toilet and sink. Just like the movies.
The prisoners were given three meals a day which was very dangerous as each meal they were given a fork, spoon and knife. We were given the opportunity to go in the cells and walk around
to look at everything. Of course I had to go in and try everything out, being me.

Visitors were allowed once a month, however usually the prisoner's were disowned by family and friends. Here I am pretending to be waiting for my visitor after a long month of prison life. I should be an actress.
There are wonderful views from alcatraz of the San Francisco bay.
