Today I went out to lunch with my friend Bonni from work. We were in Keene shopping for a Halloween party I am throwing in a couple weeks we left shopping tired and hungry. Bonni suggested that we go have lunch at Papagallos in Keene. It is an Italian/ Mediterranean Restaurant with a bit of a Mediterranean meets mid-evil feel to it.
As you are all aware I am a sucker for any Italian food and went for the eggplant Parmesan. The starter salad was fresh it came with warm homemade bread that was crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. I would have been happy with that, but then my Parmesan came out topped with warm tomato sauce and gooey melted cheese. Oh my, my taste buds were all popping out with delight for what was to come. The eggplant was lightly breaded with a slightly crispness to it. The sauce consisted of a mild tomato sauce with plenty of melted mozzarella cheese on top. The serving was of a generous size, enough for lunch tomorrow. My friend ordered the bacon burger, she literally had to remove her slice of tomato so she could fit the burger in her mouth. She said it was perfectly cooked to her liking, she had ordered medium rare. The bacon was crisp as well as the lettuce she couldn't even finish it.
The service was really good our waitress was friendly and eager to meet our needs. The customers around us all seemed to be pleased with there meals and having a good time.
Papagallos serves dinner Tuesday thru Sunday and lunch on weekends as well as a Sunday brunch. I really want to go back and try the Sunday brunch it looks like it will be worth the trip. They have won many awards in the Monadnock region for there food. If you are interested in this restaurant I have the web address attached for your viewing. http://www.papagallos.com/
I would rate Papagallos 3 1/2 forks
